Therapeutic Riding of Tucson (TROT) is pleased to introduce our new Executive Director, Peter M. Wells. He comes to TROT after a very successful career in the Flowing Wells Unified School District, starting as an educator and ending his career there as the administrator known for his ability to lead schools to an “A” rating, building teams and leaders from within. He shared with us his lifelong love of horses, including stories about his years as a groom in his father’s stable of racehorses in upstate New York. Peter also shared a special connection he already had to our organization the perceivable effect  kids from his schools experienced because of their time at TROT, moved him and led him to apply for the leadership role at TROT.

“It is a great honor to be selected as Executive Director of the TROT organization.  I am excited about the opportunity to work alongside the passionate, professional staff,  board of directors  and  team of volunteers, to fulfill TROT’s Mission.”

Peter has  more than 30 years of experience working in low socio-economic communities and led his schools to an A rating , schools with very high poverty rates and schools with high percentages of students with disabilities. He spent his career striving to improve the lives of his students and finding ways to enrich their lives outside of the classroom. He is a highly motivated and highly motivating leader, capable of both vision and hands-on management for his teams and his schools.

He is an intuitive leader who has been very successful hiring, training and retaining high performing employees. Peter is also a great contributor to the Tucson community through the Andra Heart Foundation, the Optimist Club of Tucson, the Arizona Education Foundation, and the Flowing Wells Educational Foundation.

“TROT is the place where Peter’s life passion for enriching the lives of others and being part of an equine environment come together. We are so pleased to have  him as our new executive director, “said Lori Medcoff, Chair, Board of Directors.
